CoSort (IRI, Inc.)
Integrated Data Security Example
Transform, Report, and Protect in One Pass

IRI released CoSort Version 9 earlier this year with auditable, field-level protections for sensitive files. CoSort's Sort Control Language (SortCL) tool adds strong encryption for fields and records, along with other data masking functions, to its parallel data transformation and reporting functionality.

This financial services industry (FSI) job example shows how you can simultaneously:
  • transform (sort, join, remap, calculate, aggregate)
  • report (custom layout, spreadsheet-ready) and
  • secure (pseudonymize, encrypt, and de-identify)
data from differently formatted input files, all in one job script and I/O pass. If you currently use more than one tool for flat-file processing, presentation and protection, consider the runtime, development, and cost savings that CoSort v9 offers. Please email cosort@iri.com if you are interested in a free trial of CoSort v9.

Big Oracle Extracts Now on Windows

FACT Unload/Reorg Tool for Win2K/3, XP, and Vista

Fast Extract (FACT) Version 2.3.1 for Unix and Linux is now also available for Oracle users on Windows. FACT unloads large Oracle tables in parallel to flat files in fixed- or variable-length record format. To support reorg and ETL operations, FACT also creates the metadata for those file layouts in the syntax of CoSort's Sort Control Language (SortCL) tool (for transformation, protection, reporting, and pre-load sorting), and SQL*Loader (for bulk loads).

FACT specifications, in an .ini or .xml file, can be called from the command line or in batch. Initial performance tests indicate that FACT's rows-per-second unload rate is twice as fast as Oracle's spool command. Moreover, the FACT > CoSort > SQL*Loader ETL method was seven times faster than the equivalent Oracle 'order by' table insert at the 25 million row (1GB) level. Please email fact@iri.com if you are interested in a free trial of FACT v2.

Build Test Data from Relational Models
RowGen v2 for DBAs & ETL Architects Coming Soon

RowGen v1 broke new ground in generating safe test data in realistic file and report formats for application development, benchmarking, and outsourcing in 2005. RowGen can generate multiple test files in multiple formats in the same job script and I/O pass. At Oracle OpenWorld in 2006, visitors to IRI's exhibit told us they wanted a GUI and the ability to create database and ETL test data with referential integrity, to simulate the parent-child relationships between their production tables.

At Oracle OpenWorld this November, IRI will exhibit a beta version of RowGen Version 2 for Unix, Linux and Windows. Leveraging the data model consolidation power of RapidACE, RowGen will automatically create multiple test tables according to your DDLs. There will be no limits on the number or size of the (pre-sorted!) tables you can create. Set files are used to maintain referential interity and the right data value ranges and frequencies. Please email rowgen@iri.com if you are interested in a free trial of RowGen v2 with the RapidACE GUI.
