• Records user licensing
• Web administration option |
Introduction
The unauthorized copying and sharing of software (a/k/a piracy) costs the software industry billions of dollars annually. Does your company have an easy way to protect its products? If so, can you easily change the nature or time period of your application's use without inconveniencing your users? And, can you also remotely activate and track your products' users across all Unix and Windows platforms? |
Permitas was designed to be an easy, bullet-proof software
licensing system that you can afford to integrate with your applications . Its core
technology has successfully protected, activated, and tracked advanced software products
like IRI's CoSort for many years. You can administer and record software licenses
internally or via any web server, including one just for Permitas users.
Description
Permitas prevents the unauthorized copying and use of any software applications that run on Unix or Windows systems. Permitas does this without causing your customers inconvenience or increasing your software development or maintenance overhead. Permitas also tracks users and usage without requiring spyware or additional work on your customers' part (or waiting on your part)!
With Permitas you can:
• License all of your executable files and/or libraries to only run on licensed machines
• Expire your software after a pre-determined length of time
• Quickly and easily upgrade your customers from trial to permanent license
status at any time without requiring them to download anything further
• Control which features of your software are 'active' for each customer individually
and again change that at anytime without requiring any additional downloads
• Release and maintain a single product version containing all features, which you control with Permitas licensing
• Send custom up-sell messages and contact details whenever license keys issue
• Use a unique "product key" to make sure the keys to one product cannot activate another product
• Use your own key generator, a utility included with your Permitas shipment
• Pay to use the Permitas license server to administer your own customer accounts and contact emails
• Purchase web server scripts and executables to run your own license server
In order to Permitas-enable your software application(s), you write a simple API call so that your application will
look for a central licensing file at runtime. That central licensing file will receive license keys (from you or a web server)
to determine where, when and how your product can be used.
To activate your Permitas-protected software, your customers are automatically prompted at installation time to connect to a
license key server, using the user name and password you provide for them.
When connected to the server, their license keys are automatically downloaded and
installed into their central license file
(permitas.txt or .permitas), and the server keeps detailed records of this activity in an SQL database.
If they cannot connect to the server, they can send you their "private key" value and you send their license keys to them.
Platform Availability
Permitas is available on all Unix and Windows-based platforms.
Licensing and Support
Total Permitas license fees for your products range from
$300 to $3,000 on Windows platforms, and from $600 to $6,000 on
Unix platforms, depending on the number of software licenses you
are selling and protecting, and on whether you elect to use the
Permitas server to administer and track worldwide licensing. Annual
maintenance, which includes phone and email support, plus upgrades,
costs 16% of the base license fee for the total licensed configuration.
An alternate minimum annual charge may apply. |
